The snow covers Marbella’s mountain, La Concha

It is not a usual view, but it has occurred at specific times in recent years and this Monday it has been repeated. Snow has appeared in Marbella , covering the Sierra Blanca, reaching areas such as Juanar and the peak of La Concha. The maximum temperature so far this week has not surpassed 12 degrees. Work on Torremolinos train station starting this month

The Torremolinos town hall has anounced that the improvements to the train station of Plaza La Nogalera will start in January 2018. The planned works, which will cost 7.5 million euros, will result in the comprehensive renovation of its existing facilities and make it more accessible to disabled people. The station averages a traffic of 6000 passengers per day.

Initial acts for Marbella Starlite 2018 announced

Starlite will be remaining in Marbella for 2018, and has already started warming up for next summer by announcing performing acts: Sting is the first international artist to confirm, as well as local artists like David Bisbal and Pablo Alboran. The festival will run from 12 July to 25 August on the old hillside quarry in Nagueles.

Record passenger numbers for 10 years of Malaga high speed rail

The AVE (high speed train) ends 2017 with 2.44 million passengers transported to Malaga, 3.8% more than last year. The service started on 23 December 2007 at 12:30pm. The journey time between Madrid and Malaga is just under 2.5 hours. New fast lines are being built to connect Malaga with Granada and Sevilla.

The merchants of the Old Town of Marbella deliver their prizes

Caprichitos Mata and Librería Mata were the establishments that received the main awards in the tenth edition of the Trade Awards and the Showcase Contest of the Casco Antiguo, celebrated on the 20th of Dec 2017. Caprichitos Mata received the first prize in the shop window contest, and Librería Mata received a special mention. Hostal Restaurante El Gallo won the Lifetime Achievement Award and Grupo Fuerte Hoteles won the Innovation category for its Amare Beach Hotel.

The pedestrianization works of the Costa del Sol square in Torremolinos will begin on January 8

January 8 is the date chosen to start the pedestrianization works of the Costa del Sol and Palma de Mallorca squares of the municipality in Torremolinos. This will be the first of the planned actions in the modernization project that will include the modification of the current urban design. The works involving an investment of 2.5 million euros, will be executed in two phases, one from January to May and the second until its completion in December 2018.

Marbella reaches third city status in Spain that rents shared bicycles

Marbella is the third city in Spain, after Madrid and Granada, to host the new service of renting shared bicycles, an initiative that will bring to the city the progressive implementation of nearly 500 bicycles. It is presented as a business but also as a commitment to sustainable mobility. This new service is offered through the OFO platform, which has a fleet of more than 10 million bicycles in 250 cities around the world. Users will have to download the OFO mobile application and, after locating the bike which is equipped with GPS, they can unlock the ‘smart lock’ system by scanning the QR code located on the bicycle’s padlock. The price of the service is 0.35 euros every 30 minutes and it starts from January in Marbella.
